The Bizkaialde Foundation holds its annual meeting and reaffirms its support for sport in Bizkaia

The Foundation has allocated 950,000 euros to sponsor 26 clubs and 32 teams in 15 different sports, reaffirming its commitment to the development and promotion of sport in the territory.
The Bizkaialde Foundation has once again held its annual meeting, bringing together a distinguished group of representatives from the world of sport in Bizkaia. The event was attended by representatives from 16 companies, 26 clubs and 32 teams that are actively involved in the Foundation.
Bizkaia Frontoia was once again the venue for this annual event, at which the chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Provincial Deputy for Basque Language, Culture and Sport, Leixuri Arrizabalaga, publicly thanked the organisations, companies and clubs that make up Bizkaialde for their effort and commitment.
Leixuri Arrizabalaga expressed her deep gratitude to the companies that support the Bizkaialde Foundation project, highlighting their contribution to the society of Bizkaia as a whole. She also stressed that 2026, marked by Bizkaia’s recognition as a European Region of Sport, is an unbeatable opportunity to raise the profile of and recognise the work of the territory’s sporting ecosystem.
As Arrizabalaga pointed out, “in Bizkaia we have a great team that makes it possible for anyone to take part in sport, from grassroots to elite level”. She added, “this European recognition gives us the opportunity to thank you and to highlight your commitment: the companies, clubs, federations, athletes, technical teams and professionals who make sport in Bizkaia great.”
Looking to the future, she emphasised that “sport in Bizkaia continues to grow, with an inclusive, broad and modern outlook that reflects who we are as a society”.
Bizkaia Frontoia today welcomed representatives of the organisations and companies that make up the Foundation, as well as athletes and representatives of the clubs that benefit from contributions of Bizkaialde, promoted by the Bizkaia Provincial Council.
For the current season (2025-2026), the Bizkaialde Foundation has distributed 949,999.75 euros to sponsor 26 clubs and 32 teams competing in 15 different sports. These include 16 men’s teams, 11 women’s teams, three mixed teams and two adapted sport teams.

The Bizkaia Provincial Council thanks the support and commitment of the organisations and companies that make up the Bizkaialde Foundation, as strategic allies in promoting sport in the territory: IDOM, Petronor, IMQ, Bilbao Port, Olsa (Olarra), Mikeldi, Viuda de Sainz, Ibarrondo, Campezo Cycasa, Alaiki, SDEC, Deia, El Correo and Bizkaia Irratia-Radio Popular.
The Provincial Council reaffirms its commitment to the development of sport in Bizkaia and recognises the contribution of all these organisations and companies to the promotion of sport in the territory.
