Detail

On 20 June, the Bilbao estuary will host the Kirolur Ur Kirol Festa, an event open to the public aimed at raising the profile of water sports practised in Bizkaia and bringing their various disciplines closer to the public.

The initiative forms part of the strategic priorities of Bizkaia Kirolur, European region of sport, to promote and highlight the activities carried out by federations, clubs and all sports organisations linked to the aquatic environment, both in the estuary and along the Bizkaia coast.

The event will begin with a boat procession between the Zubi Zuri and Euskalduna bridges, featuring various sports such as rowing, canoeing, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding and dragon boating, among others. The procession will set off at 10:30 and is expected to arrive near the Euskalduna Bridge, where a group photograph of the participants will be taken.

From 11:30, the Euskalduna Quay will become a hub for socialising and promoting sport, with activities open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about different water sports up close and even try some of them out from the jetty at the Euskalduna Quay.

In addition, throughout the morning, information tents for various sports disciplines, simulators and exhibition spaces will be set up, with the aim of showcasing the diversity and abundance of water-based sports in Bizkaia. The programme will be rounded off with music and entertainment to create a festive and participatory atmosphere.

At Kirolbide PRO, we encourage all sports enthusiasts and those wishing to discover new sports to come along to Kirolur Ur Kirol Festa and enjoy a unique day by the Bilbao estuary, sharing experiences and discovering first-hand the wide range of water sports practised in our region.
