The General Deputy of Bizkaia, Elixabete Etxanobe, used the occasion of the Bizkaia Kirolak Sariak Awards to announce Bizkaia’s bid to become a European Region of Sport for 2026. Bizkaia puts forward its bid to be a European Region of Sport in recognition of all the people and entities who work for sport in Bizkaia. To all the people who, day by day, ensure that the values of sport continue to guide the activity of clubs, teams and athletes. Recognition as a European Region of Sport would provide a strong boost to sporting practice and would serve to highlight, strengthen and consolidate the excellent work carried out in Bizkaia.
